I pray that they may all be one

James N. Amanze (2006)

"Ecumenism in Botswana" is an unusual book produced to celebrate 40 years of a united church in Botswana. It is a labour of love on the part of many people. At the end of the volume 41 people are thanked for their contributions to the study between 2001 and 2003. It was supported by the Humanities Faculty Research and Publications Committee at the University of Botswana where Professor Amanze has worked for nearly 20 years.

It was written for the Botswana Council of Churches, as the BCC is now called, under the tutelage of its General Secretary David J. Modiega. Extensive contributions were received from many people, but Professor Amanze particularly thanks the former Secretary General of the BCC, Churchill Gape and Rev Brian Bailey. He extends his appreciation to Sandy Grant, who beginning in March 1968, was the first Development Programme Organizer to be hired by the BCC, and to Sandra Franklin of the Mennonites for comments on an early manuscript of the book. He also gives credit to the late Professor Z. K. Matthews, as he "was largely responsible for the commencement of a well organized ecumenical movement in Botswana"
