A Long Weekend in Pest and Buda (2003) a.k.a Egy Ht Pesten s Budn is being shown today (September 9) only at 7 p.m. at the Maru a Pula School, A/V Centre (Gaborone Film Society).

A Long Weekend in Pest and Buda is described as not a sequel to Kroly Makks Love, yet in many ways it is. Love was set in 1956, while A Long Weekend in Pest and Buda is 1996, or 40 years later. Love was begun in the mid-1960s and not released until 1971. A Long Weekend in Pest and Buda was started in 1996 and released in 2003. Kroly Makk was born in 1925 and has made 40 movies over the last 62 years. Not all his films have had such a long gestation period. These two, were both delayed, because they are set in a highly politicised context and deal with the consequences of the Hungarian KGB (VSO), or secret polices actions, thus permission and sponsorship was difficult to obtain.
