Hunt for Botswana's cultural ambassadors starts

Miss Culture and Heritage Botswana, a pageant dedicated to preserving Botswana's cultural heritage is beginning its search for the next ambassadors.

And the good news is that this time around, the pageant will have five categories - Little-Boys and Girls (ages 3-6); Junior-Boys and Girls (ages 7-12); Teen-Boys and Girls (ages 13-17); Miss-Boys and Girls (ages 18-25); and Mr and Mrs-Men and Women (ages 26-40).

There is yet another innovation: Miss Culture and Heritage Botswana is to be decentralised. Pageant founder Millecent Shunda says they have decided to invite individuals from different villages to apply to host the pageant in major villages with representatives in Ntlo ya Dikgosi (House of Chiefs). Successful candidates will be charged with organising the regional pageants, to chose finalists who will take part in the final to be held in Serowe in September.
