Some parents have expressed concern that the organisers of the Miss Teen Africa beauty pageant are this year charging P500, double the amount they paid for last year's auditions. The concerned parents said they have been told that they have to pay P500 as registration fee for the pageant to be held later this year.

Miss Teen Africa beauty pageant was staged last year and the queen scooped P100,000 as the first prize. But it came as a shock to most parents when the winner was given only P20,000 and the organisers announcing that the balance (P80,000) had been invested in the Stanbic money-marketing fund.

During the pageant, a Stanbic official said part of the prize money would be invested with their bank.Meanwhile, organiser of this year's beauty contest, Miti Mhlangayebe, confirmed yesterday that they are charging P500 registration fee.
