Helen, Banjo Notch 3 Nominations As Sebodu, Makanyane Miss Out

Pop sensation Helen Dikobe and Afro jazz man Banjo Mosele of Ntsa e jele ntsanyana fame each notched three nominations as the Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU) announced the list of the final nominees for this year's BOMU music awards, billed for the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) on October 31.

However two of the songs that were highly celebrated in the past year, Makanyane by Gong Master Ketshabile and Ditiro Leero, as well as Deben Natale's Sebodu have missed out on nominations for the song of the year award. However Deben Natale's explosive traditional dance album has been nominated in the Best Folk Music category. Female sensation Maxy Sedumedi does not feature anywhere in the nominations. For the first time a product of Botswana Television (Btv) music scout talent, My Star, appears in the nominations. Last year's winner of the show, Tebogo  Tlhagadikgora has notched up two nominations for Best male artist and Best R&B categories.

Banjo Mosele clinched nominations in the most coveted category of  Song of the Year, Best Afro Jazz Album, and Best DVD category, while Helen, who also featured in one of the most celebrated House albums in the country in the past year, was nominated for Best House album, Best Female, and Song of the Year Categories.
