Gaborone Hosts Anti-Piracy Workshop

As the war against piracy intensifies the world over, Botswana in conjunction with the United Nations Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), has organised a national sensitisation workshop on the issue.

The Anti-Piracy sensitisation workshop to be held in Gaborone next week is meant for law enforcement agencies.

A press release from the Department of Culture and Youth said the workshop is aimed at sensitising law enforcement agencies on their role in the fight against piracy in particular and copyright enforcement in general. An official from the department, Bopelo Gaothusi said the workshop is important in light of the high levels of piracy that have bedevilled the country, mainly characterised by CD-burning, import of pirated CDs, DVDs and cassettes and photocopying of books without any remuneration to the composers and authors.
