Fani made a comeback, four years after he was ousted by his opponent on Saturday Philip Makgalemele. It was sweet revenge for Fani as he beat Makgalemele by 53 votes to 45 votes. In other surprise outcomes, the respected Sexton Kowa was ousted as BFA vice president (technical) by former referee, Dintle Mphele as the resourceful Puma Mathware fell to little known Olsen Mantle from the Kgalagadi District in the race to become additional member.
It is understood that Fani's return had a lot to do with the defection of two influential individuals - Maokaneng Bontshetse of Football Botswana newspaper and Ernest Molome of Mochudi Centre Chiefs - to Fani's camp. The two were in Makgalemele's campaign team four years ago when he ousted Fani.
