Duo plan fabulous Miss Independence pageant

In an effort to encourage local youth to appreciate and be proud of Botswana culture, two youths have joined forces to organise a 'Miss Independence' beauty pageant next month.

The duo of 23-year-old Koketso Moremi and Lindi Ndaba said that the pageant, which will take place at a spot near the Three Dikgosi Monument in the new Gaborone central business district (CBD) will be held under the theme: A re buseng ngwao ('let's bring back culture'). Botswana celebrates her 42nd independence anniversary on September 30 this year.

The duo have planned it in such a way that everything will be traditional and reflect the cultural values of Batswana and their lives. At the spot, a big marquee will be pitched with the interior decorated with traditional items.
