With competition in the Pay-television industry growing, Pay-TV providers are coming up with strategies that will set them apart from their rivals and prove to be the people's favourites.

Competition for Pay-TV has particularly heightened because a number of providers recently got on board, forcing the once sole providers, Multichoice, to up their game. South Africa's broadcasting regulator ICASA last year licensed five Pay-TV providers including Telkom Media, On Digital Media (ODM) and e.Sat that started to cut their pieces of the cake that MultiChoice had previously monopolised.

In Botswana, the National Broadcasting Board (NBB) also issued two licences to the now operational GTV, and another pay-tv yet to start operating, Munhumutape African Broadcasting Corporation (MABC).
