Dira sparks controversy at drama awards

Traditional music icon Captain Dira's involvement in drama cost super Gaborone theatre group, Yoho P25,000.

The group, which undoubtedly dished out the most captivating and colourful drama show at the climax of Heritage Month at Mantlwaneng, Westwood, last week, was disqualified because of featuring Captain Dira, who also participated in the contemporary music category.According to the judges, a person is not allowed to  compete in more than one category.

Yoho drama group had however pulled out all the stops to ensure that the audience was treated to  a night to remember. Using elements of traditional dance, Yoho's display glorified Botswana culture as a tourist attraction.
