BOMU set to cash in on awards

The Botswana Musicians Union (BOMU), the organisation that also runs the annual music awards, is preparing for a windfall from an unprecedented wave of local musicians flocking to renew their union membership, ahead of the BOMU awards towards the end of the year.

BOMU offices are expected to  be swarmed by hundreds of musicians eager to land the coveted awards, which would be quite mouthwatering after sponsors, Mascom injected P750, 000 into this year's awards.

Cash strapped BOMU, which was recently rescued by Mascom, are rubbing their hands in expectation for subscription fees that could rake in  P100  000 into the BOMU coffers in the next few days.
