The burning of exotic incense would excite any stranger to Catholicism. The event will also be characterised by song and dance as Catholic groups from all over the region converge on Gaborone to celebrate Boniface Setlalekgosi's silver jubilee in grand style.
The last time he had a celebration like this was 25 years ago, when he was crowned the country's first citizen archbishop at the National Stadium. The man, who was the guest speaker at his consecration a quarter of a century ago, Sir Ketumile Masire, will also be among hundreds of dignitaries scheduled to grace the occasion.
A Durban-based cardinal, who is also expected to deliver Pope Benedict's message, will represent the Vatican.
