Artists not ready for today's elections?

Musicians have said that they are not ready for today's elections.

Poifo Motladiile of Tselakgopo traditional dance group feels it is too early for Botswana Musicians' Union (BOMU) to hold elections, which could scare away sponsors who are pumping their cash into the annual BOMU awards, she said.

"We can't vote in a new committee. The Rasina-Tlhomelang led committee has been successful in securing sponsorship for the awards and electing a new committee might reverse their achievements, something that would not help us as artists," she said.
She said that in the event that the elections do take place, the old committee hand over files and even introduce the new one to sponsors for the sake of progress.
