2007 was an exciting year for the Arts

The arts in this country are certainly taking shape thanks to government's forward-looking policy of supporting and encouraging artists as compared to the previous years. It is against this backdrop that Mmegi looks at a few events and individuals who made a mark during the year 2007.

*International Awards

A number of artists won different prestigious awards both locally and internationally. Batswana had over the years made Botswana proud by scooping international awards mainly in neighbouring South Africa. They repeated the feat this year with local hip-hop star Scar aka Thato Matlhabaphiri scooping the Channel O Spirit of Africa Music Video Awards' Best Hip Hop Video award, for his Metlholo video. Acid also got the Best Dance Video award for their Banyana le Basimane video.
