Iamgold posts P330 million loss

Botswana Stock Exchange(BSE)- listed Iamgold last week posted a net loss of $47,4-million(P330 m) for the fourth quarter of 2009.

The loss came after the company announced a $88,8-million non-cash impairment charge related to its Camp Caiman project, in French Guiana.

The company, which owns Mupane Gold Mines near Francistown had warned in January that fourth-quarter earnings would be impacted on by the charge. Excluding some items, adjusted net earnings rose 152 percent year-on-year, to $41,4-million, compared with 16,4-million a year earlier.
