The Monitor :: Police Rule Out Foul Play In Thamaga Death

In an interview with The Monitor, Thamaga police station commander Superintendent Moses Kwarare confirmed that they investigated a case in which a man was found dead and already decomposed in his yard. However, he said the case is not being treated as suspicious.

Kwarare said the deceased’s uncle visited the 36-year-old man, but was shocked to find him dead and decomposed by the fireplace.

He stated that the deceased, who was buried on Friday, was staying alone at his home in Thamaga. Kwarare said after receiving the report, they rushed to the scene and found the deceased’s body in a bad state, something that forced them to call pathologists to carry out post mortem immediately.

“Post mortem was carried out immediately looking at the state of the deceased’s body and doctors did not suspect any foul play,” he said.

“The problem is that the deceased was staying alone and it took days for his family to visit

him hence the body was discovered after it had decomposed.”

Kwarare said they suspect the deceased might have been dead for two days before his discovery looking at the state in which his body was.

“The body was badly decomposed, we suspect that he might have lost his life on Monday whilst by the fire place. We do not suspect any foul play,” the police station chief said.

When asked to comment on rumours circulating within the village that the deceased might have been murdered and that his other hand was missing, Kwarare dismissed the talk as false.

“It is not true, such allegations are false. We do not suspect any foul play and all of his hands were there just that some of his body parts were badly decomposed and not visible. Investigations into the matter are complete because the doctor’s report clearly states that they do not suspect any foul play,” Kwarare said.
