As part of the BOT50 celebration, the Ministry of Education and Skills Development and Limkokwing University on Friday launched a musical entitled Moratiwa at Mantlwaneng Theatre.

Led by veteran musician Socca Moruakgomo, the musical is a tragic story about ritual killings in Africa. The play is a result of the Unleash Your Star Qualities programme that was launched six months ago to embrace all genres of performing arts, which include music, dance, drama and poetry. Moratiwa is part of Target 20 000 up-skilling and up-scaling which is meant to equip the youth with the right skills to be able to participate meaningfully in the economy and reduce unemployment.

Backed by a band, the play started off by introducing the main characters of the story that included the lead actress Moratiwa and Moffat and his spoiled brat. The lead actress managed to capture the attention of the audience when she vividly and sadly narrated one incident where a girl was murdered for a ritual. She was able to express every emotion and the whole theatre roared with sympathetic silence.
