BTU leadership has rubbished the lawsuit

The Botswana Teachers Union (BTU) has responded to the P28 million lawsuit by Bophose Pty Ltd denying any wrongdoing. In a letter written to the lawyers yesterday, BTU accuses Bophose of breaching their contract.

“The plaintiff breached the terms of the Mandate Agreement in various respects, which breaches entitled the defendant to terminate the agreement and in fact defendant did terminate the Mandate Agreement,” says the letter from Martin Dingake. The response further reads that the claim by Bophose is excipiable to the extent that neither the resolution nor the Power of Attorney to institute proceedings on the reliefs they seek nor entertain the plaintiff’s attorneys to appear in the matter. Further, More Power Investments and BTU deny concluding a contract with Metropolitan Insurance Company Botswana on account of the plaintiff’s involvement.

“The defendant has not circumvented plaintiff in respect of the First National Bank of Botswana deal/transaction and plaintiff is put to strict proof thereof,” states the response.
