Legislation on human trafficking now - US envoy

The United States ambassador to Botswana, Steven Nolan, has advised that there is need for legislation on human trafficking in Botswana, though the problem is not yet serious.

He said that human trafficking is a serious problem worldwide and the country could find itself in the same situation if nothing is done now.

"No country is immune to this problem and we have to build a wall against human trafficking and Botswana must draft and implement legislation on this," he said. Nolan said that the two countries have worked together in different areas of security, revealing that currently there is an ongoing training course at Otse Police College on human trafficking.
