From time immemorial, poets have been celebrated figures among the Batswana people.

They were loved by the ordinary man for their captivating recitations and their ability to paint vivid pictures with the spoken word. Dikgosi loved them because poets had the ability to endear them to their subjects. There were times when poets fell out of the dikgosi's favour because they were the voice of the voiceless.

Rabojalwa Galenamong (Keetile) of Mokgalo Ward in Molepolole is one of the few true traditional praise-poets left in Botswana.
