Just another day behind the scenes in the New York City modeling ramps

The day begins like most days, get up, and make tea. Write (I keep a morning journal). Shower. Check the weather. Make a mess as I figure out what to wear. What is the outfit that screams,’ book me’,’ choose me?’ I paint my face, get dressed and rush out the door for the train: somewhere in there I made breakfast. I am on my way to cast/audition (this is my job interview).

On this day though, at this particular casting, I was blown away by the sense of awe I had for the models around me: a part of my world is filled with visually captivating people, so by now I thought I would be used to it.

I felt a tinge of awkwardness and the need to hide as I walked over to sign in, sit and wait for my turn to meet the client.
