Councillors decry uncooperative police

PALAPYE: Councillors have decried lack of cooperation between themselves and the police officers in the area. When responding to the Palapye Sub Council chairman Lesedi Phuthego’s speech at the ongoing Sub-Council meeting, councillors expressed unhappiness at how the police officers work with them. It was revealed that they (police) never have representation in the council even when they are invited.

The civic leaders also expressed disappointment over the law enforcers saying even when they are invited to other activities to address the public about criminal activities they never avail themselves.

Councillor for Morupule ward, Jordan Makhura said police officers never release any report concerning the rate of crime in the area. “The police ought to work well with us because we have been mandated by the public. When the public ask us questions regarding crime in Palapye we do not know what to tell them as they (police) do not cooperate with us. As we speak, there are rumours that the Special Support Group (SSG) offices are coming to our area and we have not been informed about that.
