World Athletics Relays Bid committee's trip to Botswana postponed

The much anticipated visit by the World Athletics Relays 2026 Bid Committee to Botswana has been postponed due to travel challenges, it has been announced.

The Committee was expected to have landed in Gaborone today for inspection of facilities that include the National Stadium and accommodation facilities, amongst others. The Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) has submitted a bid to host the 2026 World Athletics World Relays hence the visit by the team. A BAA statement released on Friday stated a decision was made to postpone the visit due to unforeseen travel circumstances on the part of the Committee’s travel from Brazil. It said: "The BAA is working closely with the World Athletics to reschedule their visit and announcements on the new dates will be communicated."
