FRANCISTOWN: The battle of who will reach the 40 point mark first in the FNB Premiership intensified during the week when Township Rollers and TAFIC won their games.
Log leaders Rollers won 2-1 to move within one point off the 40 point mark while second placed TAFIC also defeated VTM FC through a Martin Daka goal to move within three points of the 40 point mark. Third placed Jwaneng Galaxy also has 37 points like TAFIC who however have a better goal difference. Gaborone United who are sitting in fourth position with 36 points also have a realistic chance of reaching the 40 point mark provided all teams ahead of them lose their upcoming games. TAFIC coach, Elias Chinyemba, who shocked not only his team's fans but the football fraternity at large by wearing a black suit and white shoes, said that there was nothing unusual in the change of his attire. Chinyemba is famous for wearing a long sleeved checkered shirt.
Asked if his team will reach the 40 point mark first before other teams, Chinyemba said: “We are not in control of how other teams perform. We are only in control of our games and we will continue to work hard in order to win our remaining games.” Chinyemba is however worried that his team creates a lot of chances but does not convert them. “Our players are rushing in front of goal and are not composed. We will work very hard on our goal conversion,” said Chinyemba. TAFIC could have buried VTM by a lot of goals especially in the first 10 minutes of the game but were let down by poor finishing.
