Security Systems head coach, David ‘Lefty’ Botlhasitse has rubbed off claims that reaching the Orange FA Cup final will make up for relegating to the lower league. Systems reached the final after defeating VTM 1-0 over the weekend at the National Stadium.

The solitary goal was scored from the spot by Tshepo Keselebale in the 15th minute. Heading into the clash against VTM, Systems relegated to Debswana First Division South League (DFDSL) following the conclusion of the FNB Premiership league. Following the triumph over VTM, Botlhasitse said his charges do not have anything to prove. “We are not trying to showcase or prove a point to anybody. It's really not about us trying to make up for anything. There are things that we really didn't do well that cost us the Premier League status,” coach said. Though 'Lefty' was coy that Systems is out to prove anything to anyone, he said the relegation took a toll on his players and had doubts heading into the clash.

“We had to quickly forget about the Premier League and focus on the game at hand. We tried by all means to talk to the boys because these are the kinds of the moments that do not really come often. So we had to quickly forget the league,” he said. The gaffer further said that though they are in agony over relegation to the lower league, they hope that reaching the final could be a form of showing appreciation to their supporters. “We had to quickly forget about the league and concentrate on the cup as we know everyone’s hearts are sore but what a way to give your supporters a thank you. We know that we have disappointed them but we are trying to put a smile on their faces,” he said. Now that Systems are in the final and will face defending champions, Jwaneng Galaxy, on a date to be confirmed, 'Lefty' said they were more than ready for any side they face in the final. “It's not about who you prefer. All the four teams were here because they did well. So we can’t avoid anybody. With that said whoever is available we will go and see because everybody has the weakness,” he said. Reflecting on what went wrong for Systems in the league, 'Lefty' said they did not have a strong squad after failing to use the transfer window to bolster their squad for the season. “As a team we agreed that there are things we did not do well during the transfer window. Remember we lost key players and we failed to bring those players that can make an instant impact and we didn't have that depth,” coach said.

Depression is real; let's take care of our mental health

It is not uncommon in this part of the world for parents to actually punish their children when they show signs of depression associating it with issues of indiscipline, and as a result, the poor child will be lashed or given some kind of punishment. We have had many suicide cases in the country and sadly some of the cases included children and young adults. We need to start looking into issues of mental health with the seriousness it...
