Sekgokgoroane clarifies his BFL departure

Outgoing Botswana Fooball League (BFL) chief executive officer (CEO), Billy Sekgororoane has explained to Mmegi Online that he is leaving following a mutual agreement with the Board.

"The chairman of the BFL issued a statement clearly stating that we agreed to separate by mutual agreement. I requested the board to release me from my contract for personal reasons. The board met to discuss my request and resolved that they will release me from the contract after serving a month’s notice from the yesterday, 23rd December 2025," Sekgororoane said.

Meanwhile, the board chairman, Sipho Showa said Sekgororoane will serve a month notice from December 23, 2025, to ensure a smooth transition.

Sekgororoane was appointed CEO in August 2025, taking over from Bernet Mamelodi to bring commercial expertise
