Nowe finishes sixth

On her Olympics debut, Oratile Nowe has finished sixth in the women's 800m heat.

She clocked 2: 01.00 but failed to earn automatic qualification to the semi-final. However, she has a chance to qualify by running in the repechage tomorrow morning at 11:28 am. A repechage is a contest for the best-placed finishers who failed to win the heats, competing for a place in the final. Meanwhile, her training partner at the Sepeng Athletics Project in South Africa, Prudence Sekgodiso finished in position two in heat three to proceed to the semi-finals with a time of 1:59.84.
