Minister dissolves BNSC Board

The Minister of Sport and Arts, Jacob Kelebeng has dissolved the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) board, MmegiOnline has learnt.

According to a source close to developments, the board has been shown the door as it does not align with the minister's vision for sport. The source said the process is ongoing to appoint a new board which is likely to be finalized in March. BNSC board chairman, Marumo Morule has served for two terms, after being appointed by then Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Tumiso Rakgare in 2019, before the mandate was renewed in 2024. Contacted for comment, Kelebeng refused to shed light on the developments.
