Licence hitch delays First Division South start

The First Division South League will not start this weekend as anticipated after two clubs failed to obtain licences to participate in the competition this season.

The league was scheduled to kick off tomorrow, but Taung Young Strikers and Holy Ghost failed the club licensing test, forcing organisers to delay the start of the season.

In a statement, First Division South League secretary Portia Olopeng-Mlilo said the First Instance Body, which is responsible for the licensing process, had informed them that the two clubs had failed to meet the licensing requirements.

“The Competition Office has informed us that two of our teams, Holy Ghost and Taung Young Strikers, have not been granted their licences. The two clubs have since been given three days to appeal the decision. Consequently, we are forced to delay the start of the league,” Olopeng-Mlilo said.
