Township Rollers former midfielder, Denver Meyer is training with cross town rivals, Gaborone United, (GU) as he eyes a deal with the Orange FA Cup champions.

Denver spent just one season with the Blues and was released at the end of last season. He enjoyed a mixed spell with the record league champions as he was used sparingly by the Rollers’ technical team.

The Namibian midfielder is now trying his luck at Popa’s direct rivals. He was part of Moyagoleele’s squad at the VTM Pre-Season Tournament held over the weekend at the VTM Arena. Meyer was introduced in the second half of the tournament final as GU beat Mochudi Centre Chiefs to emerge champions. The midfielder brought some energy into the team’s play and displayed some neat touches. GU’s head coach, Pontsho ‘Piro’ Moloi refused to comment on the player’s capacity at the club.

“I will choose not to comment please,” Moloi said to Sport Monitor on Saturday. The Reds are upping their game in the market after a slow start into this transfer window. They confirmed Poloko Nkalolang from Security Systems earlier this month. Moloi on Saturday confirmed the capture of Liberian midfielder, Sheikh Sesay after he spent two weeks under assessment with GU. The 21-year-old was also impressive in his first outing as a GU player over the weekend. The Reds are also said to be closing in on Kenyan defender, Eugene Asike. The 29-year-old has turned out for Swedish side, Karlstand and Kenyan giants Tusker FC.

Zambian forward, Maybin Kalengo, formerly with Young Africans of Tanzania and Zesco United of Zambia, is also trying his luck with the Orange FA Cup champions. The 24-year-old scored the winner in the semi finals win over visiting Linare FC of Lesotho in the tournament held on Saturday. Meanwhile, across town, Rollers have confirmed signing of Namibian midfielder, Marcel Papama. The former Jwaneng Galaxy man has been a free agent after his contract with the league champions ended at the end of last season.

He is Rollers’ 10th signing in this window as the Blues eye a return to glory days next season. Nico United have welcomed back forward, Morgan Gaseitsiwe who returns on a season loan from Rollers. Gaseitsiwe was the Debswana First Division North League top goal scorer in the 2021-2022 season with Nico but failed to command a starting place at Rollers. Zambian striker, Joseph Pyele has arrived on a season loan from Galaxy. He is joined by country man and former Chipolopolo junior player, Happy Mwila Nsofwa, who has penned a one-year deal with Majombolo.
