The country's financial crisis could impact celebrations for the victorious World Championships team, with the government taking out the begging bowl, requesting donations for the athletes. The team arrived home this week, with the last batch landing on Wednesday evening.

The team scooped a 400m gold medal through Busang Collen Kebinatshipi, a 4x400m relay team gold, and a bronze medal in the 400m from Bayapo Ndori.

Addressing the media this week, Minister of Sport and Arts, Jacob Kelebeng called on the public, private sector and all well-wishers to pledge their support for the heroes.

We have all seen the pictures and heard the stories of broken windows, unreliable water and electricity, topped by classrooms that are not fit for proper learning. The establishment of the Education Infrastructure and Management Company Ltd (EIMC) signals that authorities are finally ready to take this problem seriously. We must commend the government for this initiative....
