The ambitious Jwaneng Galaxy women's team has been linked with Mares' assistant coach, Gaolethoo 'Ronaldo' Nkutlwisang, who is expected to take over the head coach's role.

This comes after reports suggest the team's head coach, Botshelo 'Observer' Pelokgosi, has been suspended from duty. There has not been any light shed on the development but reports indicate the club's management is unhappy with the coach's conduct.

Pelokgosi was only appointed the team's head coach on Valentine's Day, after being poached from Botswana Premier League side, Holy Ghost. Contacted for comment, Galaxy's public relations officer, Tankiso Morake, was quick to rubbish the reports as he said Pelokgosi has been absent from duty because he is attending the CAF A coaching licence course.

Ronaldo has been the Mares' head coach for over a decade but was demoted to assistant coach last month. She is the head coach of Geronah SC in the Gaborone City Region Football Association (GCRFA) Division One. "I am not aware of any suspension. I cannot make any comment regarding that. He (Pelokgosi) is attending a coaching course that is run by the BFA (Botswana Football Association)," Morake briefly told MmegiSport this week. Galaxy women's team is the newest football establishment in the diamond-mining town with just a year in the game.

From the onset, the team has sounded ambitious as at one point they were linked with former Mares' captain, Bonang 'Bebeto’ Otlhagile for a player/coach role. The team boasts several junior national talents and was unlucky not to make it to the top four of the DTCB Women's Championship. Galaxy lost in the final of the Southern Region Football Association playoffs earlier this year.
