Former Zebras coach, Peter Butler has been appointed as director of sports at Gaborone United, the club announced today.

In a statement, GU said the appointment is with immediate effect and Butler's main responsibility will be to oversee all the structures at the club including both senior and women's teams. "Butler comes with immense experience having coach the Zebras between 2014 and 2017.

He also coached Liberia senior team between 2019 and 2022," reads the statement. At one point, Butler was tipped to take over as the coach of the men's team when GU were stuttering in the league race. GU's chances of defending the title they won after 13 seasons are now slim, as they trail Jwaneng Galaxy by five points with only two rounds to play.
