BTTA grooms coaches for future glory :: Mmegi Online

The Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) is strengthening its coaching structures as the country prepares to host two international youth tournaments next month, in a strategic move aimed at transforming grassroots talent into future champions.

The association has added 15 trained coaches to its development structures following a five-day International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and Para Table Tennis (PTT) Level 1 Coaching Course held at Babusi Hall in Gaborone from October 21 to 25.

Seven participants attained ITTF-PTT Level 1 Coaching Certification, whilst eight received Club Coach Certificates. The programme attracted five women and 10 men drawn from schools, clubs, and grassroots development centres. However, whilst the qualifications represent progress in addressing Botswana’s coaching development needs, they mark the foundation of international coaching education rather than its highest level.
