The Botswana Football League (BFL) has confirmed the resignation of its chief executive, Bennett Mamelodi, who will serve a month's notice before his departure.
In a statement, the BFL said Mamelodi had tendered his resignation last night and the search for his replacement will commence immediately. "We are committed to finding a leader who will continue to drive our strategic vision and uphold our values," the BFL said. Meanwhile, non-executive director, Sipho Showa will act as interim board chairperson following the resignation of Peter Kesitilwe on Monday. Kesitilwe and Mamelodi's abrupt resignations come after a fractious BFL general assembly held in Palapye on Saturday. The meeting had demanded the suspension of Mamelodi over maladminstration concerns, whilst clubs questioned the Betway sponsorship deal.
