Battle of gaffers as First Division kicks off

The much-anticipated First Division South League could turn out to be one of the most competitive if the current crop of coaches is anything to go by.

The league kicks off tomorrow with two mouth-watering encounters that feature four former Premier League sides. Currently, the league houses five ex-elite league sides in Union Flamengo Santos, Notwane, Security Systems, Prisons XI and Holy Ghost.

Young Stars also previously qualified for the Premier League football although they sold their status before kicking a ball. Interestingly, the league is currently decorated with highly recognised coaches locally.

A promising step for public schools, but...

For too long, the state of many public schools has been a source of shame. We have all seen the pictures and heard the stories of broken windows, unreliable water and electricity, topped by classrooms that are not fit for proper learning. The establishment of the Education Infrastructure and Management Company Ltd (EIMC) signals that authorities are finally ready to take this problem seriously. We must commend the government for this initiative....
