Athletics continues to be hit by doping cases as a fresh incident follows tests conducted before the team travelled to the World Athletics Championships by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADO).

The athlete was part of the team that was in Tokyo and given notice of the results upon return from the championships. In 2025, Botswana has recorded six cases, which include Refilwe Murangi, Tshepang Manyika, Ditiro Nzamani, Galaletsang Gabalotegwe, and Kagiso Mogale from softball. According to information reaching MmegiOnline, NADO is yet to release the name of the athlete who has tested positive for a banned substance. Contacted for comment, NADO coordinator Fredrick Seno said he was not in a position to discuss the matter. He said a statement will be released after the athlete has been notified. Meanwhile, the Regional Anti-Doping (RADO) regional manager, Andrew Kamanga, said that as a region, they are waiting for Botswana NADO reports.
