Amos gets Iranian coaching gig

After his completing World Athletics Level One coaching course in Zimbabwe as part of his retirement plan from competition, Nijel Amos has been appointed middle distance coach for Iran national team.

Speaking to Mmegi Online, Amos said he was hired after getting his World Athletics coaching certificate. He said he was grateful for the opportunity to share what he has learnt, to guide and inspire athletes and make an impact in a different way. “Sport has always been my passion, and now I get to help shape the next generation of champions and contribute to the development of Iranian athletics,” said the 2012 Olympic Silver medalist.

When asked about language barrier, Amos said his athletes understand English and they attend English classes which makes communication much easier. He noted that he was not in a position to state the term of his contract but he intends to be based in Iran for a long time.
