The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has formally charged Nijel Amos with committing an Anti-Doping violation.

The official charge comes eight months after the athlete was suspended on the eve of the World Championship in Oregon, the United States of America. According to information reaching Mmegi Online, the athlete is charged with committing Anti-Doping rule violations under the 2021 World Athletics Anti-Doping rules. “You have until March 31, 2023 to provide a response to the notice of charge and how you will like to proceed with this matter,” the AIU said to Amos.

In July last year, Amos was banned from competing, as he was preparing to take part in the World Championships, which were held in Oregon. The athlete has been on the side-lines since and a formal ban is expected to kick-in with Amos hoping for a lesser punishment.
