Libya based striker, Tumisang Orebonye is set to host the second edition of the Tumisang Orebonye Charity Cup this weekend at Lecheng Young Stars Ground.
Speaking on his behalf at a press conference, Dipsy Selolwane said Orebonye is humbled to share his vision for the tournament. The charity cup aims to celebrate unity, youth empowerment, and giving back to the community. "Football gave me a platform, and I want to use it to make a meaningful impact on young boys and girls who dream of a better tomorrow," Orebonye said. Orebonye also expressed gratitude to the teams, players, coaches, and sponsors who have supported his vision. "Let's come together for a purpose greater than ourselves," he urged, emphasising the importance of staying grounded and believing in one's dreams.
Meanwhile, Selolwane praised Orebonye for his commitment to giving back, saying, "Despite his success, he remains true to his roots and is willing to share his platform and inspiration with others." Bokamoso Mmapadi, the tournament organiser, highlighted the charity cup's objectives, including nurturing talent and promoting grassroots football. This year's tournament features 10 teams from different villages, with prizes including P7,500 for the winning team. The tournament has received support from various sponsors, including Security Systems, Grandstays Guesthouse, Zone 2 Printers, Football Union Botswana, and the BFA president.
Mmapadi appealed for additional sponsorship and support, noting that local artists will provide entertainment during the event.
