African Hero, the recently launched Pan-African initiative, will come on board as the new sponsor of the Top 8, effectively filling the void left by Mascom at the end of the 2019-2020 season.
The revamped Top 8 tournament will be officially launched in Gaborone on Friday, ushering in a fresh chapter for the competition as the 2026-2027 football season gets underway. Although there was no official confirmation from the BFL, sources indicate that African Hero, which recently built a school in Block 7 that was officially opened by President, Duma Boko is the new Top 8 sponsor. The Botswana Football League has not finalised dates of the new tournament, which joins the FNB Premiership and the Orange FA Cup as the three domestic competitions. The African Hero project, launched this month, aims to accelerate access to education, healthcare and skills development in underserved communities.
