Zebras look to history

When Zebras' goalkeeper, Modiri Marumo saved a penalty from South African defender Siboniso Gaxa during the COSAFA Castle Cup mini-festival at the National Stadium in Gaborone last year, thousands of supporters erupted into song and dance as Botswana reached the semi-finals of the regional competition for the first time.

When the Zebras return to the National Stadium tomorrow for the COSAFA Cup, they will be hoping for a repeat of last year's feat by reaching the semis and perhaps going all the way in the richest regional competition in Africa. The journey starts when the Zebras meet Namibia in the second semi-final of Group C tomorrow.

The game follows the Angola-Lesotho tie, which is expected to kick off at 1pm. Zebras' coach Colwyn Rowe is faced with a tough challenge as most of his players have been carrying injuries prior to the big day. Veteran Diphetogo Selolwane, captain Modiri Marumo, Nelson Gabolwelwe and Onalethata Tshekiso are some of the players who have been on the sick bed.
