Zambians have turned Debswana Developmental Botswana International Chess Championship into their own. Since 2014, the title has rotated amongst the northwest neighbour’s players.

The unbreakable trend continued into its fourth year over the long weekend when International Master (IM), Daniel Jere won the prestige section. Last year, the category was won by IM Gillian Byalwa who did not participate this year.

IM Jere’s trip back home was made sweet after he bagged a cool P12,000. The second position went to fellow countryman, Simutuwe Musatwe who pocketed P8,500, with another Zambian, IM Chitombo Mwali coming third and taking home P5,667.
