FRANCISTOWN: TAFIC squandered a 3-1 lead against visiting Gaborone United (GU) in a thrilling Mascom Premier League game marred by controversial refereeing on Sunday at the Francistown stadium.

The match ended in a 3-3 draw with the referee dishing out nine yellow cards. GU were the first to draw blood early in the game when Kebareng Sabone of TAFIC handled the ball in the box. Kenny Ledikwe drilled the resultant spot kick past Tebo Thokweng in the TAFIC goal. After the goal, TAFIC piled pressure and were unlucky not to score when Mohammed Chawila unleashed a shot that hit the crossbar and bounced back into play.

Following an interchange in the middle of the pack, Dube collected a pass and equalised for a 1-1 halftime score. TAFIC came back in a purposeful mood and attacked relentlessly. The pressure paid off when they took the lead with two quick goals. At this time, TAFIC fans were on their feet singing 'Siwelele' as captain Tamocha Bedi gesticulated towards them, in the manner of a conductor exhorting his choir to lift up their voices.
