Tshosane relieved after CHAN dates shift

National team coach Stanley Tshosane is a relieved man after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) agreed to shift the dates of the qualifying matches of the African Nations Championships (CHAN) to allow for smooth flow in the COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup.

The CHAN qualifier between Botswana and Zambia that had been set for exactly a day after the COSAFA final has been postponed to late July after the COSAFA Cup.Before the change, Botswana was to host Zambia in the CHAN first round, first leg qualifier on June 22. Now, the Zebras will only host Zambia late in July after the COSAFA Cup, which kicks off on July 6, before visiting the former African champions in August.

Zambia will host the revived COSAFA Cup, which returns for the first time since 2009 in Lusaka and Ndola.Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) general secretary, George Kasengele confirmed the change to Mmegi Sport. "The first leg will be played a week after the COSAFA Cup ends and the return leg will be played two weeks later in August," Kasenegele said. He added: "This change applies to all teams taking part in the COSAFA Cup."
