Tricky ties for BDF Cats

Defending Spar netball champions BDF Cats face two of their toughest challengers this weekend as the southern region league resumes after a short break. The league went into recess last month to make way for the national team that participated in the Africa Championships in Malawi.

And, as the league resumes, Cats face last season's losing national championships' semi-finalists, Jungle Queens and Notwane.Cats are aware of the threat Notwane pose as well as the level of preparation Queens engaged in during the off season. In fact, Queens are the current log leaders after winning their opening three games of the season.

The police outfit made big transfer coups during the off season, signing former Botswana international attacker Amogelang Ngwako from Notwane and the former Prisons trio of Goitsemodimo Jikinya, Natasha Maribe and Goisegotlhale Onotsile. The move has paid off so far with three wins. The new players, especially Maribe, have combined well with the likes of captain Lilian Rankgwe and Patricia Ollyn.  The police outfit have amassed six points from their three games while reigning national champions Cats and newcomers Jwaneng Netball are both on four from two games. An intriguing battle is expected when Notwane take on Cats tomorrow morning. The two giants usually produce some exciting games each time they clash.
