Double Action women's football team will keep the AT&T Monnakgotla league trophy for good after winning it for the third consecutive season.

The champions together with other teams were awarded with trophies and cash prizes at a brief ceremony held in Gaborone last Thursday. For their efforts, Double Action were also rewarded with P30, 000 and gold medals, while runners-up Rollers left the event P21, 000 richer with third placed Meat Girls getting P15, 000.The awards ceremony also marked the end of the three-year partnership between the women's football league and sponsors, AT&T Monnakgotla Bus Service.  Officiating at the event, AT&T Monnakgotla's Talita Monnakgotla implored all women football stakeholders to work together to address the various problems bedevilling the game.

Monnakgotla was worried that the game was affected by many hiccups that have over the years hampered its growth. "We need to take stock and come up with a roadmap of where we want to take women's football in Botswana," she said.  Monnakgotla, however, told women not to despair despite all the challenges, saying that eventually everything should be fine. She told women footballers that women are natural leaders by virtue of being child-bearers and that nothing would be impossible.
