Botswana Rugby Union (BRU) Development Officer, Zilwele Khumalo this week told Mmegi Sport that the game will be played on June 6. He noted that this game is part of the preparations for the upcoming six nations tournament.
Meanwhile, Botswana National Under 19 boys' team took part in the Cottco schools rugby festival that was held in Harare, Zimbabwe last weekend. In their first game against Falcon rugby club, Botswana was beaten 39-0, while in the second game against Peterhouse, Botswana lost again 30-17. In their last match, the team lost yet again, as they received an 11-nil drubbing at the hands of Eagleville. Khumalo said that the results do not necessarily reflect poor performance, but a lack of experience on players' part. He explained that they have selected a team that has not played rugby in two years. He further stated that the main reason that this happened is the lack of games at schools level. He noted that the team has been in camp for about a month and that was the best they could do. "We need to get back to schools' rugby and get all the basics right and then we can move forward from there. All our clubs need to have second teams in order to give the boys more game time and experience," said Khumalo.
