Teletswana Beat Minnows In Debswana Cup

Teletswana women's volleyball club defeated youthful BDF VI 3-1 in an exciting Debswana Cup match at the Botswana College of Agriculture (BCA) Multipurpose Hall on Saturday.

Despite Teletswana's victory, it was a close contest right from the first set, which Teletswana narrowly won 25-23. Both teams continued their good display in the second set though BDF VI came back more stronger. They played more as a team and made good blocks. BDF VI deservedly won the set 25-18 to make it 1-1. In the third set, Teletswana looked more dominant and their experience proved pivotal. BDF VI seemed to panic and lost concentration easily. They also failed to communicate and this made it for Teletswana to hit powerful spikes and win the set 25-8. The fourth set was once again dominated by Teletswana. They won it 25-7. After the game, BDF VI coach Francis Dingwe said that they are still short of many things. He said that the team has just been formed by youngsters. "I think we need about two veterans to lead these young players and we will be back as a force to reckon with," he said. He said that the players have not trained together. Teletswana have now won two games and lost one while BDF VI have lost all the four matches they have played. In another game played on Saturday, favourites, Mafolofolo trounced Spiking Stars 3-0.  Mafolofolo dismissed their opponents 25-8, 25-11 and 25-8. They are currently leading the log with 12 points after having won all the four games they have played so far.
