Survey puts Mmegi Sport ahead

A survey by local Public Relations (PR) company, Hotwire PRC, has put Mmegi Sport ahead of its competitors as the sports section of choice for newspaper readers.

During the Lilac Media Awards last Thursday, Mmegi Sport section came first ahead of the Botswana Gazette which came in second place and Botswana Guardian in third spot. Mmegi Sport was preferred by 39.7 percent of the survey participants. The closest competitor, Botswana Gazette was voted by only 11 percent, while Botswana Guardian got 9.2 percent of the vote; the remaining was shared by nine other local newspapers in the survey.

Hotwire Director, Kabelo Binns said; "we decided to carry out a survey of the local media in order to create a mutually beneficial relationship between their clients and the public. We found it imperative that we know how the public, who are the key consumers, perceives various media."
